Gorjuss Girl and My Not So Gorjuss Results

Hi

In my last post (which was a wee while ago now) I think I mentioned that I loved the blended coloured look that could be achieved when using Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
I have never tried colouring with them before and I'm gonna' be brave and share my very first attempt here.

I had a horrible time trying to control where the ink ended up on the paper and after some Internet searches, I've realised that part of my problem is the watercolour paper I'm using.
I have cold press paper which has a texture to it (you can see the textured surface in the photo) and I need to used hot press paper which is smooth and allows for much more control and therefore finer detail.
So I have some on order and I can't wait for it to get here so I can give this technique another go.

I followed a Jenny Hodges video tutorial on YouTube for the basic techniques
It's really clear and easy to follow

Here's the link to watch it (she has a series of video tutorials to view)

As for the stamp she is just, well, Gorjuss!!!
I have the whole recent release range and will be colouring them all up at some stage, trying different mediums and colour schemes.

Be sure to pop back and see the results I get when I try again with the right paper : )

Hello . . .

I love, love, love to colour . . . I can spend hours in front of the television [not watching, lol] with my Copics, Prismas or Inktense pencils. .  .  I loved my colouring books and crayons as a child and I guess I have never really grown out of this.

Colouring something in makes me incredibly happy and relaxed  . . . it's such a simple pleasure.

I wanted to start a blog which would gather together all the interesting blogs and tutorials there are out in the Blogasphere from all those amazingly talented crafters/artists.

I wanted to blog about a variety of colouring mediums and techniques and to record my own skill level journeys, mistakes and all :) .

For example I love the look achieved from colouring with TH Distress Inks, I've never tried it myself but I going to and I'm going to record my efforts and improvements here [gulp!!!]

So whilst I may not always post my finished cardmaking projects here . . . I will be posting my coloured images to mark my progress [hopefully there will be a progression in my skills, lol].

I hope you will find making the journeys with me interesting and helpful

PS:  Thought I should maybe post an example of the skill stage I'm at now
This is a Magnolia stamp - Edwin, coloured with Copic markers last December
